Hello (One night @ call centre, the movie)

The Preview looks amazing, though I would have really liked it if someone other than Atul Agnihotri had decided to make this into a movie. The book deserved more, but anyhow, atleast its turned up in a movie..that itself is a big enough treat! I'm really eager to see how it turns out, hope they dont make any big changes in the plot and stick to the characters as potrayed in the book! Still better would it have been, if the movie had been made in english.. ok now we know that a totally english might not go well with the public but look at "Black", the movie was 80% english... anyways... coming back to the movie..it features Sharman Joshi as the protagnist Shyam. Sohail Khan plays the cool motorbike guy Vroom. Gul Panag portrays Priyanka (ewww, couldnt they fine anyone else??) and Esha is played by Isha Koppikar.

Theres a surprise appearence by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. With Salman playing Chetan Bhagat, the author and Katrina the youn beautiful girl Chetan meets in the train in the opening scene. Waiting to watch the movie, hope they do the book justice.

The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor

"The blockbuster global "Mummy" franchise takes a spellbinding turn as the action shifts to Asia for the next chapter in the adventure series, "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O'Connell to combat the resurrected Han Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O'Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.

Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor and his 10,000 warriors have lain forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. But when dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, the reckless young archaeologist must seek the help of the only people who know more than he does about taking down the undead: his parents.

As the monarch roars back to life, our heroes find his quest for world domination has only intensified over the millennia. Striding the Far East with unimaginable supernatural powers, the Emperor Mummy will rouse his legion as an unstoppable, otherworldly force...unless the O'Connells can stop him first."

Now, i really cant wait for this one to come... Brendan Fraser is so cool and this time we have Jet Li too... plus a whole new script...enough of that imotep freak...he was gettin comic now!!

Third Biggest Defeat for India

There they go.... ever heard a test match ending up in literally just over 2 days of aggregate play??? Whooo... an innings and more than 200 runs, that's what team India lost by, with its fabled batting lineup including the likes of sehwag, saurav, sachin, dravid and laxman. The same pitch where our spinners, namely our captain Anil Kumble and the bad boy of Indian cricket Harbhajan Singh, were struggling to take even a single wicket... the very same pitch proved to be the falling ground for twenty of our wickets in less that 2 days, and guess what... out of the 20 Indian wickets that fell, 19 were shared among the Sri Lankan spinners Muralitharan and Mendis.

The more the hype that's been gathering around Indian cricket... the more uncaring I've started being to the results. There's just a small little reason that still keeps me in touch with cricket and that's Sachin Tendulkar... the guy has devoted more that half his life to the Indian team..not just scoring runs, but well and truly aiding the team in any way required. The man is a legend, greatest batsmen alive... and all the more humble and with a sense of humility.
Unlike our young brigade that is to follow and be the caretaker of cricket in the country, the likes of Yuvraj, Dhoni, Uthappa and all.... these guys play for fame, they play for money. And all the while when they are not playing, they can be found at the most happening night spots or endorsing another brand or maybe walking the ramp for a buddy designer. They come up with the most outrageous of haircuts (did u see what uthappa was sporting lately?), and frankly speaking they just cannot handle the fame and money that's all of a sudden come their way and in the process they go overboard with everything and link themselves with things that aren't even distantly related to cricket!! Look at what happened to uthappa after the 20-20 world cup, can u remember any innings where he made a significant contribution? And am i the only one who feels that dhoni just plays in order to please the critics, just spending time at the crease working the ball around, without a thought to the run rate required, and when its time to fire.. he conveniently gets out trying for a big hit... no but as everyone says, he set it up, he played his part(crap!!).

The future as i see it only remains in 20-20 and the highly successful moolah grosser, IPL! there wont be any special cricketers of the likes of Sunil Gavaskar or Kapil Dev or the present " aged seniors" as they refer to them. Cricket is no longer a "game" to be enjoyed, its "entertainment", to be viewed and all the while cheering for your "club". Gone are the days when there used to be unconditional loyalty to the country, at least you never expected someone to come up to you and ask which team you were supporting, as happens in most of the IPL matches!

Foodiebay

Now heres something really interestin (nattu n party listening??), came across this site by some IIT delhi dudes... which is just too good to ignore... i mean this is really so informative and usefull!

FoodieBay.com has a comprehensive listing of over 1200 eating joints, from every nook and cranny to the most recognized addresses in Delhi and NCR. With a click of the mouse, you can choose the locality, your choicest cuisine, read up the menu, calculate the cost, take guidance from user ratings and decide what you want to eat next. More importantly for some, the site also tells you whether the restaurant serves alcohol or not.

its a cool site, do try it.

Update

well, heres an update on my movie spree......
add to the list of seen....
  • A Walk To Remember: a nice movie, kinda make belief.. but i don really know what the hype was for... i mean.. come on.. its like a bollywood romantic tragedy.. and everyone just kept saying its too good too good!! i think a majority of the population like a movie as in accordance to if their peers like it or not.... if they hear it from a couple of people that a particular movie is good, then they see it and like it.. not really knowing if they really enjoyed it!
  • December Boyz: This one was kinda philosophical, pleasantly surprised to see Daniel Radcliffe in the cast. The story revolves around 4 orphan children, a very realistic story. On the whole, a slow but a nice movie.
  • Little Manhattan: i saw this one just last night, this one was really adorable! many a times i found myself laughing and smiling in the dark. really enjoyed it, its kinda cute and childish, yet the theme is mature.
  • Padosan: well most people would have seen this one, hilarious it is... but i was really interested in seeing Kishore Kumar! Loved the songs, which came up ever so often.
  • V for Vendetta: aaah!! this one was touching, rebellious, got the adrenaline pumping! reminded of Zorro at times. V had his side effects for a long time.
well those are all i've seen till yet...still got a whole lot in there pending! Apart from this, i gave up all books that i was reading..namely Shantaram and Atlas Shrugged... and i picked up one of the potters, the last one... and i realised just how much i was out of touch.. can always rely on potter to get u up when feeling low! now, i plan to read the whole lot all over again(for the 10th time i feel)... in the reverse order this time!!!

Finito

I'd mentioned that i'd watch A Walk To Remember last night..... well, i did not.. i was out with some old friends and we had a 'nice' time and then i got to know some stuff that was really shocking...alright.. i came home.. i tried to make some ammends to whatever i'd heard and clarify whatever was up.... well in the end it turned out to be all clarified...clarified as in really clear...all said and done, thats it!! Its the end to everything...all hopes lost..all expectations done in! thats it and i never wanna write about it on this space... there never will be a word about the issue over here! its the final The End!! no more pondering over things or anything! even if there is an opening or somethings do creep up... it'll be me this time who makes sure it does'nt amount to anythin..no hopes or expectations or future thinkings! thats it! Finito! and it really is not that easy as it looks! i'm writing all this while my head is splitting with pain... i have a bad hangover and i cant standup for more than 5 minutes at a stretch!! i've been lying on this bed for the past 12 hours now... i wasnt awake but i did not sleep! i was thinking too much but my mind was idle... its just...it'l take time..but it wont be expressed... it wont show!!!! its finished!
there are problems all around at the moment,... nothing seems to be going right... i dont know wats gonna happen... and i dont wanna think about it!!

Movies all the way

On a movie marathon... well in the past few days i’ve seen an average of 2 movies a day. Juno, The Notebook, Hitch, The Devil Wears Prada, The fountainhead(for the 3rd time), Godfather(for the nth time), Shashawnk Redemption.. and a few more... but last night... i saw Notting Hill, and it was an experience.. i mean the movie is real great, how could a guy after being literally dumped n insulted n humiliated three times say yes again to that girl... well yes he could and i know its possible! Hmmm.. well it really strikes a chord..

The best part are the soundtracks.... “Aint no sunshine when she’s gone.... its not warm when she is away”...... , or maybe... “its amazing how you can speak right to my heart, without saying a word you can light up the dark..... you say it best WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL”... but the best one... which i’d heard before but never realised how beautiful it was, the lyrics are enchanting.....its “She” by Elvis Costello.... the lyrics go like...

She may be the face I can't forget

The trace of pleasure or regret

Maybe my treasure or the price I have to pay

She may be the song that summer sings

May be the chill that autumn brings

May be a hundred different things

Within the measure of a day

She may be the beauty or the beast

May be the famine or the feast

May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell

She may be the mirror of my dreams

A smile reflected in a stream

She may not be what she may seem

Inside her shell....

She, who always seems so happy in a crowd

Whose eyes can be so private and so proud

No one's allowed to see them when they cry

She maybe the love that cannot hope to last

May come to me from shadows in the past

That I remember 'till the day I die

She maybe the reason I survive

The why and wherefore I'm alive

The one I care for through the rough and ready years

Me, I'll take the laughter and her tears

And make them all my souvenirs

For where she goes I've got to be

The meaning of my life is

She....She

Oh, she....

Tonight I’ll watch A walk to remember.. going by what i’ve heard about the movie its quite good and worth a watch. Well lets see how it turns out, meanwhile.... i’m totally bored and pissed off because of no worthwhile reason... part of me wants that college should open up as soon as possible, whereas the other part wants to stay back at home n wish never to return to delhi.... and theres another small portion of my conscious which just wants to go into isolation and have no one but myself.... “i dream of a place where theres no one in sight”......”its the life of solitude i desire, still its loneliness that i fear”..... hmmmm!!

Lappy Happy Review

DELL XPS M1530.... here is the configuration:-

-Intel Core 2 duo T8100 2.1 GHz, 3 MB Cache
-4GB (2 x 2048) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
-256 MB Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT
-250 GB SATA Hard Disk
-15.4'' widescreen WXGA+ TFT display

well thats the main config part apart from that loads of other things such as a 2MP cam, Biometric fingerprint reader, DVD+-RW, etc.

DELL makes the XPS look sleek n compact, a thing DELL wasnt famous for with its earlier Lattitude and older Inspiron models. Design asthetics have been given a lot of thought in the XPS series, and the result is fabulous. The top has a nice matte finish with chrome thrown here and there, like the Dell logo, the XPS logo and the opening grip. The silver side trimmings add a dimension to the look. The silver keyboard looks amazing and gives a feel of those alien, futuristic sort of systems, typing is really a pleasure on the keybord, the keys are well spread and provide easy access to most hot key buttons. Just above the keyboard are a few touch sensitive media buttons which are really cool to use and look familiar to the quick launch buttons found in HP notebooks.

Connectivity with Dell is not an issue, there are ports for all kinds of connections, we have USB, HDMI, Firewire, a monitor port, ethernet port, S-Video. In the front there are 2 audio jack ports and a mic plugin. Theres an 8 in 1 memory card reader too in the front and apart from this there is also an Express card reader which doubles up as a storage area for the remote. The placement of the power on and processor in use indicators is not convenient though. They are placed right next to the mic port in the front and one cannot constantly see if the processor is being used at the time.

Coming to performance, man... i tried so hard to give the processor a rough time.. but no luck.... imagine, theres simultaneous data tranfer taking place from a DVD, a pen drive and a Wireless network. But nope, no glitches. All i had heard about Windows Vista being slow and stuff.. nope, not with this configuration atleast. The aero features are nice and smooth and browsing windows is a treat, thanks to the Nvidia graphics card. The screen display is decent and good enough for indoor use but really not meant to be used outdoors, loads of reflections. The viewing angle is decent enough though it could have been better.

The battery performance is average i feel, fully charged it provides you anywhere between 3 to 4 hours depending on what you are doing at the time. The heat management is excellent, and the heat distribution is great.. the unit heats up evenly and the whole unit feels warm rather than just a few localised burning parts. The fingerprint reader is absolutely fabulous and easy to use and provides great features, right from locking the computer to keeping private certain files and folders you dont want others to access. And the next time you visit a website and they ask you to enter your username and password, you just show them the finger!! i mean u swipe your finger, bcoz the reader also links your password with your fingerprints.

Dell provides a host of accesories with the notebook. A bluetooth wireless headset which is really too good! Noise cancelling earphones from creative, a classy case in which the notebook fits in perfectly, embossed with the XPS logo. A well padded spacious backpack. The laptop came with all the connectivity cables one could ever use with the system, All the driver CDs n DVDs, plus an original Windows Vista DVD.
One thing which really impressed me about dell is there customer care service and support staff, i mean the people really know their stuff man, unlike other customer care centres. And they make you feel like you are the supreme authority, you wont ever be doubted about the fault in your system, and they wont make you feel like..."its ur mistake". Plus they guarantee to repair any possible fault in your system by the next working business day, and you dont even have to step out of your house!

Overall, really a nice experience having a dell notebook. And the system performance is excelent i feel, apart from the minor upgradations which should be done, like improving the battery or the display and everything!

Formatted

Finally, today i was able to resurrect my pc... after a long illness.... ranging from virus attacks to partial disk failures to partial windows failure to what not. I had been working through dos for the last 2 weeks! and just clicking for winamp seems like a luxury.. rather than following the usual procedure i had become accustomed to for opening a file or an application.. which was opening the task manager, running cmd prompt from there n following the path where the particular application lies and finally being able to open it!! "alt+tab" had been like a saviour... even now my hand is accustomed to be on alt n tab!!

what would have happened had not there been a man named Bill Gates? I know some would say it would have meant there were no bugs to fix,no patches to install n no security threats to plug! But then, he's responsible for the GUI operating system that we have been taking for granted all the while... just imagine mounting every drive u wanted to use... mounting pen drives every time u connected them.. n that through tedious commands n not just mouse clicks....!! aahhh..... hmmm... coming to another topic.. we've got a new windows to look forward to..

Windows 7, code name Blackcomb or in general sense windows Vienna, due to release in december 2009 or early 2010. so by the time we're done upgrading our systems just to be eligible to install Windows Vista (that is having at least 2 Gigs of ram, a decent processor, a better than average graphics card..et all) we'll be shunned aside as passe.. move over vista ppl.. heres Vienna... i can just imagine the system requirement that Vienna would ask for..say a min of 4GB ram.. atleast a quad core processor, a 2 GB Nvidia graphics card.. n it would be installed through a blu ray disc so a blu ray reader would be required.. plus it would take up 40GB of disk space.... haah!!! maann,... technology is growing exponentially! and i see no end to it!!!!

The Beginning And The Foreseeable End

I DREAM…

I dream of a day
When everyone's away
The world is dark
Even though its day!
It's the life of solitude I desire
Still its loneliness that I fear
There is burning a hidden fire
With hopes and dreams to fuel the smear

I dream of a time
When no one will have to whine
Bearing the prime
And the sublime
Where you won't have to look very far
Everything you desire will be addressed
Fulfillment will lead to exaggerated power
That is for sure you'll have to remain modest

I dream of a life
Where everyone's alive
Dancing to the tunes
Which they themselves have brewed
Why can't people live the way they want?
Enjoying to the fullest dying with a blast
Why does there have to be a draught?
In a man's heart, whether future or past

I dream of a place
Where there's no one in sight
I wanna go there
All alone every night
Sitting for hours gazing the sky
Hearing the wind whisper in my ear
Counting the stars which are memories gone by
I seek a place where there is no fear

I dream of living
Without a fear of losing
Nothing to gain either
And no question of choosing
Travelling this earth far and across
Acknowledging the sights which few have seen
Doing just this, and just this because
Life is short and there is much to see, much to dream

I dream of a dream
Where all this is true
When that night comes, I won't get up
Enjoying my sleep, never to wake up.
Am not a poet, and this is no poem
Just my heart expressed out in pure
It is the first, and will be the last
After this there won't be any more
For sure.
